Product guide

An AI assistant built around how you use your Mac.

Axiom starts where the work already is: your files, apps, clipboard, notes, and active projects. Ask a question, open something, or continue a task without translating your intent between separate utilities.

One entry point for search, commands, and AI

Most Mac workflows begin with a small act: find a document, open an app, calculate something, paste a saved answer, or ask a question. Axiom places those actions in the same composer so the user does not need to choose a tool before expressing the task.

The result list distinguishes apps, commands, files, snippets, and workspaces. Running applications are marked, frequently used items become easier to reach, and aliases can prioritize a result without creating a duplicate entry.

  • Summon Axiom from the keyboard
  • Search normally or use a deliberate alias
  • Move through results without leaving the composer
  • Continue into AI when the task needs reasoning

AI that can keep the working context

A useful desktop assistant needs more than a chat box. Axiom lets conversations include files, images, and previous decisions, then keeps related chats and notes inside workspaces. That makes it possible to return to a project without recreating its background every time.

Large conversations are loaded by identity so content from one chat is not intentionally reused as the loading state for another. Attachments can be analyzed without treating internal inspection as a user-requested foreground action.

A clear boundary

Axiom should show a window or perform a visible action only when that action belongs to the user’s request, not merely because an internal analysis step needs data.

From an answer to an action

Some questions end with text. Others end with an app opened, a workspace restored, a command run, or a result placed on the clipboard. Axiom is designed for both. The interface can remain a launcher for a two-second task or become a durable AI workspace when the work continues.

Desktop actions still require clear control. A different modifier combination remains a different shortcut. A workspace on another macOS virtual desktop is treated as unavailable on the current desktop rather than silently pulling the user away.

  • Open applications and surface running state
  • Call workspaces on the current virtual desktop
  • Use independent shortcuts and aliases
  • Keep commands represented once in search results

Local-first without pretending the internet does not exist

Axiom’s desktop state begins on the Mac. Connected features are described as connected features. If the user selects a hosted AI provider, account synchronization, public sharing, or another network service, the relevant data uses that connection.

This distinction matters more than an absolute slogan. It lets the product be honest about privacy while still supporting the models and services people choose for their work.

Common questions

Is Axiom a chatbot?

AI chat is one workspace inside Axiom. The product also searches files and apps, manages clipboard history and snippets, opens workspaces, runs commands, and publishes selected records.

Does Axiom replace Spotlight?

Axiom uses macOS indexing as part of file discovery but adds its own scope controls, ranking, exclusions, commands, AI actions, and workspaces.

Can I use different AI models?

Axiom is designed around model choice. Availability and data handling depend on the provider and connection selected by the user.
